Cooper's 12th Month

Cooper was in his 12 month (crazy!!!) from May 25 - June 24.  Here's what my BUSY boy was up to!

Stats:

Weight: 24ish pounds
Diaper: Size 3
Clothes: 9 month and 12 month clothes.  The 9 months are starting to get a little snug, and the 12 months are fitting perfectly.

Schedule:

Cooper is still on his 4 hour schedule -

7am - up for the day! (6oz bottle)
8:00ish - breakfast (fruit, dairy, grain - all table food)
8:45 - 9:00 - down for nap
11:00 - up and eat (6 oz)
12:00ish - lunch (vegetable, meat, bread - all table food)
12:45-1:00 - down for nap
3:00 - up and eat (6 oz)
5:45ish - dinner (table food - usually whatever we're eating plus a few more veggies)
6:30 - bath
6:45 - bottle (6oz)
7:00 - bed

Eating:  For the most part this month, Cooper has still been doing GREAT in this area.  Towards the end of the month, he did start to get a little pickier than usual.  Which is relative for him.  This means that instead of just shoving in anything that we gave him, he started to have more of an opinion on what he wanted.  So I don't know if that could really be classified as picky or not.  Some of his favorite foods this month are: fruits, waffles, eggs, and yogurt.

Sleeping:  This is another area that is going great!  Cooper's night time sleep is still WONDERFUL!  His naps have been semi-iffy, but I think a lot of it has been due to teething.  He's still a good napper, he just isn't sleeping solidly for both naps every day.  One of Cooper's favorite things to do is to jump in his crib.  Before he goes to sleep, or if he wakes up early, he will use all of his extra time to just jump his little heart out.  Here's a video of him jumping.  One of the greatest things about Babywise is that Cooper is HAPPY in his crib.  With the exception of being overly tired, sick, or teething, Cooper rarely fusses in his bed.  I took several videos of him enjoying his time in his room this month.  Here's a video of him talking in his crib.  And I took two videos of him just playing in his crib: Video 1, and Video 2.

Teeth:  Cooper has been a teething machine!  He got two teeth this month - which means that he totaled out at getting 6 new teeth in 6 weeks!  Whew!  We were ALL exhausted!  His grand total is up to 8 now.  Towards the end of the month, he got a little fussier than normal, the drooling came back, and he constantly has his fingers in his mouth - so I think he's starting to work on his 1 year molars.  Yay.

Cruising/Walking:  He has gotten much better and much more confident in this area!  He now cruises allllll the time and enjoys walking holding onto our hands for short distances now.  He still seems to have no interest in walking on his own yet, but I know it's coming!

Standing:  While he doesn't have an interest in walking much yet, he has started standing independently at the end of the month!  He usually looks completely shocked and worried the whole time that he's doing it - haha.  But he keeps trying!  I really think that the walking won't be far behind!

Talking/Communicating:  His babbling and talking picked up a lot this month.  Last month, I knew he was saying "mama" to specifically say me.  Once he figured it out, he just stopped saying it completely - haha.  He does say "dada" alllll the time, but I don't think he's using it to actually mean Matt yet.  He also can say "uh-oh and dog", but he rarely uses them in context.  In fact, the likes to call the fan a dog.

While he's not saying much, he does have ways to communicate to us.  He's started saying "mmmmm" some when he's eating, and he has also started shaking his head "no" a ton!  The shaking his head thing literally came out of no where during dinner one night, but now he does it all the time.  It is ADORABLE.  Here's a video of him shaking his head "no no".

Silly sounds:  Cooper does tons and tons of silly sounds.  He still makes the "gargling" sound a lot.  He also clicks his tongue, blows kisses, and gives zerberts.  He's also started fake coughing this month.  He is a silly silly boy!

Happy Place:  Last month, Cooper's happy place was still the swing.  This month, he has a new one: the pool!  He LOVES to be in the pool and will happily float around for a LONG time!  Good thing he's having a pool party for his birthday!

Weird Trick:  This is the most random thing ever, but he does it ALL.  THE.  TIME.  He will find random objects and "hang" them from his thumb.  He'll find Easter eggs, bottle lids, rings, ANYTHING, and hang it from his thumb.  It's hilarious and so so random!

Exploring:  Cooper is 100% into exploring right now.  He is gone. During awake/play time, his entire focus is on exploring.  He is into every room in the house, getting into the dog bowls, playing in the toilet, checking out LL's room, going under tables, ANYTHING!  It is so funny because he is ALL BOY!

Doors:  Another favorite thing of his this month is to open and close doors.  He has figured out how they work and he loves to do it over and over and over!

Grinding Teeth:  Truthfully, this is the most annoying thing in the world that he started doing this month.  Since he has gotten so many teeth so quickly, he has started grinding his teeth a ton.  We all HATE it.  It is so LOUD and the worst sound ever.  I googled it and it said that it was totally normal, but it's still terrible.  We tell him "no no" and try and stop him when he does it, but it doesn't phase him at all!  I'll be asking about it at his 1 year check up 9 (it's not until July 8) for sure!

Falling Down:  This is Cooper's newest game.  He'll get up on his knees, bounce up and down, and then "fall" over on his hands.  He loves it and will do it 1,000 times a day.  Probably because it makes us all laugh and LL loves to play it with him.  He's even gotten to the point where, he can be doing something completely different, and if I ask him "can you fall down?" he'll stop and do it.  So funny!!  I got three videos of him doing his falling down trick: Video 1, Video 2, and Video 3.

Dancing:  Cooper really started to dance this month, too!  Really, it's just more of a bouncing, but it's still really cute.  :)  He doesn't do it too too often and it usually doesn't last for long, but he usually breaks it down at least once a day.  I did take two videos of him dancing this month: Video 1, and Video 2.

Lorelai:
LL and Cooper really have bonded more this month.  I think this is due to several reasons: the first one is because she is out of school, so they're together for more of his awake times during the day.  The second is that we are HOME more now that she and I are both out of school.  The third is that he's just simply getting older.  He's not as breakable, he understands more, and he's able to DO more.  One day, LL wanted alone time in her room, so I put the baby gate up to keep Cooper out.  They ended up at the gate playing together and she was making him laugh so hard.  It really was the best moment, and I'll store it away in my memories for forever.  Luckily, I also got it on video.  :)  Video 1 and Video 2.
