Popeye Smile

Out of the blue, Lorelai started doing this crazy smile right around the beginning of March.

She did it a couple of times and we laughed really hard, and now she does it ALL the time.

It is the funniest thing!

I have no idea how to describe it other than to tell you that she looks like Popeye when she does it!

She squinches up her eyes, wrinkles her nose, and sticks her chin out.

It is SO adorable!

Especially because you can see her two little bottom teeth sticking out.

It just makes my heart so happy to see her filled with so much joy!

Here's a video of her doing her popeye smile. :)

Night in Adel

I'm so behind in blogging!  It's terrible!  I feel like once I get behind, it's really hard to get the motivation to catch up. So this post was SUPPOSED to be done about 3 week ago, but I'm just getting to it. Isn't that horrible? Oh well, here we go!

About 3 weeks ago I had to work the concession stand at a baseball game for school (it's called "Involuntary Volunteers" how crazy is that?!) from 3:45 - 5:00. I knew that I wouldn't be getting home until around 5:30 and that really limits my time with Lorelai. It was a Friday, so Matt was home all day with her and I asked him if he would come and hang out with me during the game and then we'd all go to dinner. That way I could get my "volunteering" done and still spend time with my family. Plus, Clair was working the concession stand with me and I knew she'd love spending time with LL, too.

Momma Clair!

Loving on LL

Matt came to the school around 3:00 because some of my "good" little girls had been begging me to see her. We left the school around 3:30 to head to the baseball field. It wasn't desperately cold, just chilly, but CRAZY windy. That part was not so fun. For the most part, LL did really well. She walked around with Daddy, played with a softball, and kept trying to eat grass. :)

Walking with Daddy!

We got to leave a little bit early (thanks to a co-worker to volunteered to take my place!) and we headed to 41 Feed Store. My friend (and co-worker) April is married to a chef and he just opened a new restaurant in Adel called 41 Feed Store (because...are you ready for this?...it used to be the old feed store...on 41. haha.) April had been telling me wonderful things about it, so we've been really looking forward to trying it out. I just had no idea when we'd go because I'm NEVER in Adel unless I'm working, and it's a crazy long drive to go home and then all the way back for dinner. This way it worked out perfectly!

Because we go there so early, there was only one other table with people. That was really okay with me, though, because LL was a little fussy and I was happy that there weren't a lot of people there for her to disrupt. The food ended up being SOOOO good! We had to order LL her own kid's meal (for the first time!) because neither of us ordered her anything that she would like. The great thing about the kid's meals there is that they only charge you to cover cost. So for what you get (for kids) is mega cheap!

Matt's dinner - steak, fried corn on the cob, and spinach.

My dinner - Crab cakes, mashed potatoes, and asparagus.

I really, really loved the food and we're planning on going back for Matt's birthday with my Dad. If you're looking for a new restaurant to try, this is an awesome place!

Pillow-Case Dress

There is a little girl at church who is about 3 weeks younger than Lorelai. Last Sunday, she was wearing the cutest little dress! Her mom told me that she made it and that it was called a pillow-case dress. Mrs. Becky was with me and said that she could make one SO easy!

I was super excited because they are soooo cute! After talking about it for a while, I decided that I could probably make one, too! I'm not great at sewing, but I can make curtains without a problem. Well, this type of dress isn't any more difficult than making curtains! I haven't made one yet, but Mrs. Becky went ahead and whipped one up the next day.

I think it is SO cute and I can't wait to make her a ton more. I think they'll be so great to throw on in the summer with some sandals. This dress in the pictures is the dress that Grammy made. I'll be sure to post pictures when I finally get around to making one!

Blueberry Lover

We had my mom and Victor over last Friday for some ribs. Victor had never had any food that Matt had smoked on the smoker, so he worked all day on smoking some ribs and some chicken. This is also the day that our neighbor caught our yard on fire (post to come!), but he managed to still keep our house from burning down, take care of LL, AND cook dinner! That's multi-tasking if you ask me!

Since we were cooking dinner, my mom brought over dessert. She made a blueberry cobbler. I'm not a huge cobbler fan (well, I'm not really a huge dessert fan), so I didn't eat any, but LL LOVED it! We knew she loved blueberries, but we've never given her anything like this before! My mom and Victor are pretty healthy eaters, so this was actually a low fat/low calorie cobbler, so I didn't feel so bad about giving her some!

Here are some more adorable pictures of our blueberry baby!

Indoor Playground / Playdate

I had President's Day off of work, so Emily and I decided to meet at the Indoor Playground at the mall for a little playdate with Lorelai and Kye.I had never taken LL to the indoor playground before, so I was really excited to see how she did! We've actually only taken her to a playground a handful of times, so I thought she would have a blast since it's something that we don't do very often.

We force them to play together :)
But it usually doesn't last long!
When we got there, there weren't that many people/kids and it was pretty nice! Since she's not a walker or a climber yet, there wasn't a super lot for her to do. She was also being MEGA-clingy, so she didn't stray far from me at all. Kye had been there before and he took off without any hesitation!

One thing that she loved to do was slide down the slide! She's never gone down one by herself before, and she loved it! I bet we slid down the slide 100 times while we were there!

Emily helping LL slide.

I got really annoyed after a little while because all of these really big kids came in and started playing crazy. I mean, these kids were probably 8 - 10 years old and this playground is NOT designed for kids that big. They were jumping off of things and standing on things that you're not supposed to stand on. They were running UP the slides, not taking turns, etc. I was not a happy camper. I had to actually get onto someone else's kid because he jumped off of something OVER LL and it made me so mad! He didn't even care that he could have hurt my child!

I did enjoy our time there, and we will go back, but I will try to make sure that we go at a time where we won't be swamped with big kids!

Kye was chasing her because she had a biscuit - haha!

Valentine's Day

I know this is mega-late, but I feel like I haven't had a lot of time to blog this month!  Matt and I never really do a whole lot for Valentine's Day.  It's just not one of my favorite holidays and I've never felt like I needed to celebrate how much we love each other on a specified day.  And it always seems just so close after Christmas that we never really want to buy each other much.  I guess this all needs to change now that we have Lorelai because I want to celebrate it for her!

This year we still didn't do much because it was on a Sunday.  Sundays are so super crazy for us, that we don't really have time to do anything other than eat lunch together.  We did have a big lunch at Matt's parent's house and Bryan and Missy came, too.  Again, nothing too special, but we did celebrate with the people we love.  I did make sure to snap some pictures of LL in her Valentine's outfit that Aunt Laura bought for her!

New Sleeping Habits

When LL was first born, she obviously slept on her back for the first 6 months. Once she was able to roll over, we didn't really worry about if she slept on her tummy or not. We would always put her down on her back, but if she rolled over we left her alone. Since that time, she has ALWAYS either slept on her side or her tummy. Never her back. She is a tummy sleeper like her momma! Well, at least I was before I got pregnant. Now I still sleep on my back out of habit from pregnancy.

Well, for about the past month, I have noticed a change in her sleeping habits. She has started sleeping on her back again. This is SO weird to me because she's been strictly sleeping on her tummy for the past 6 months. I don't have any clue what prompeted this change. The first night that I turned the monitor on and saw her on her back, I had to go in her room and check on her to make sure she was okay. It scared me to death because she never has done that before!  Then, a few nights later, I went to check on her and she was on her back with a sleepy blanket completely covering her face.  So funny!

After that first night, she's started sleeping on her back a good bit. She still does sleep on her tummy, but about every 2 or 3 nights, I'll find her on her back again. It's so cute to me! I guess because I'm not use to seeing it. I wonder how long this will last?
