Family Pictures 2018

When we do family pictures, I love all of the subgroups that Lindsay manages to capture.  That being said, the pictures of the four of us are what we're really going for.  These are the "money maker shots" that mean the most to all of us.  I feel like I say this every year, but I really think this years pictures turned out the best.  The colors, the location, the cooperation - everything just came together so amazing!

This one.  This is it.  Out of the entire photoshoot, this one is my absolute favorite!

Really, all of the stair shots ended up being the best of the whole night!

Family Pictures: Matt and Robyn

I say this every year, but one of the things that I am so thankful for is that Lindsay always takes time to make sure that "mom and dad" get some solo pictures, too.  No way would Matt and I ever pay for a session for just me and him, so to sneak in some time during our family session is just an incredible gift.

So often in this season of life, we're just "mom and dad" rocking the gogogo busy parenting life.  While we love these roles and this time in our lives (Seriously - it's amazing.  We are loving the season that we're in), it's nice to also take a step back every once in a while and remember who we were when we started this whole journey - just Matt and Robyn.

Deep down, we're still just two crazy kids (literally kids) who love each other and are willing to defy the odds and the naysayers together.  When we started dating when I was 17 and he was 21, we seemed to be doomed from the start.  Yet here we are.  14.5 years of marriage, 2 kids, 1 miscarriage, 3 houses, and countless jobs later, and we're still those two kids at heart.  I'm so glad that Lindsay makes us take the time out to remember that and capture it in pictures.

Lindsay did a great job on them all, but I'm pretty sure this one is my favorite.

Family Pictures: Sibling Shots

Of all the different combinations of pictures that we do during photo sessions, the sibling shots are the hardest to get.  The odds of getting both kids happy, cooperating, AND being near each other are not in our favor - haha.  That being said, Lindsay always manages to get a few that look amazing!

We got almost this exact same picture last year!
{1}

I didn't think I would love this when we were actually there, but it has ended up being one of my favorites of the whole session!
{2}

We always try to get a picture of each of us alone with both kids, too.

Family Pictures: Cooper at 6 Years Old

If you've met Cooper for longer than about 15 seconds, that you know first hand that he is a busy little boy.  When we decided not to have someone come help with our pictures this year as our "smile getter", I was a little nervous because Cooper is typically the one who needs it the most.  Well, I need to give him and Lindsay at Captured By Colson a ton of credit because we didn't need anyone else!  Lindsay and Cooper just get each other, and I think it shows in these pictures!  Lindsay has been taking Cooper's pictures since I was pregnant with him, and I love that she has been doing this for literally his entire life!

Cooper rocked out his session.  Here are his pictures at 6 years old!

Ya'll.  Oh.  My.  Goodness.  Every year, Lindsay gets one picture where I think "Yep!  That's Cooper" and this is the picture from this year.  This is just so Cooper wrapped up in one picture.  Happy, handsome, and a little bit of a look in his eye like he might be up to something.
{3}

He is always so proud of how old he is, and I love that!
{4}

My boys.  I've said this so many times before, but it is so true.  I prayed and prayed that God would give us all girls for our children.  I am so glad that He knows what we need, because I need these boys in my life.  It is the greatest blessing to see Matt raise a son in his footsteps.

Sometimes you've got to entertain the 6 year old during a long photo-session!

I talked in LL's post about how she and I have an amazing bond, but she is a Daddy's girl.  Well.  You guys.  This boy is just absolutely over the moon for his Mommy.  I just love it and soak it up as much as I can, as I know it will switch to Daddy as he gets older.  For right now, I hung the moon for this little man, and it is the most amazing thing.

The journey to get Cooper here wasn't the easiest, but it was so worth it.  He is everything we never knew we needed (even if he is contributing greatly to my grey hair collection!).

Here's a look back at his past pictures with Lindsay:

Family Pictures: Lorelai at 9.5 years old

It has been quite a while since we have done family pictures with Lindsay at Captured by Colson.  Typically, we do pictures once a year.  For the last good chunk of time, we've done pictures in Spring/Summer.  We stretched out our time to about 1.5 years so that we could do Fall pictures instead.  I love Spring/Summer pictures, but it was time for a change!

Not surprisingly, Lindsay hit these pictures out of the park.  We met up one evening at Quail Branch Lodge in Lake Park, and it seriously was just the most beautiful setting!  This was also the first time in years that we've done pictures without bringing someone with us to help get smiles, and honestly, it went so so well and smiling wasn't an issue for either kid!  Just another sign that they're getting older when they'll both give good smiles on demand!

First up are LL's 9.5 year old pictures!  It's so crazy to think that Lindsay has been taking LL's pictures since she was 3 years old!  This girl is just so beautiful inside and out, and I love how Lindsay is so great at capturing the personalities of both kids!

I love this genuine smile!

I love getting pictures with my best girl!

While this girl and I love each other through and through, there's no doubt that she's a Daddy's girl.

This girl is absolute sunshine in our family.  She is funny, has an amazing laugh, and her mis-placed dimple is my absolute favorite.

Pumpkin Patch 2018

Fall is such a fun season, and I feel like going to the pumpkin patch is our first activity where I feel like "Okay - Fall is officially here".  Cooper and I visited a pumpkin patch on our trip to Atlanta for Fall Break, but we honestly didn't even look at the pumpkins.  We were there for the activities, and I wasn't going to buy one without being with the whole family.

The weather cooled off a little bit, but by the afternoon, it was starting to get a little warmer.  Nothing like visiting the pumpkin patch in shorts - haha.

These two were ready to find the perfect pumpkins!

They both love finding a few small pumpkins just for themselves.  Also - I wonder if this is the last year where they aren't the same height?  Cooper is gaining on LL -- and gaining rapidly.  I think there's a possibility that he may catch up to her next year!

This is real life - Momma measuring a kid while another wanders around with a pumpkin in hand.  :)

My best girl!  It's also not long before she catches up to me in height!

Cooper completely remembered "5 Little Pumpkins" and asked to get a picture on his own!

This boy.  He wears me out and has my heart all at the same time.

And this man tolerates my obsessive pumpkin grabbing and just gently suggests that maybe we should put a few back - haha.

When LL was about 6, we went through a "weird smile" phase.  Well, folks.  Here we are again.

No crazy smile on this beautiful girl!

My whole world!

This was our haul before Matt suggested we take a few out.

A look back through the years!
