Tractor Boy

For his birthday, Aunt Laura, Uncle Gino, and Ben got Cooper this super cool ride on tractor/digger.  It has quickly become the coolest toy in our house.  Cooper loves to ride it.  LL loves to ride it.  LL loves to push/pull Cooper around.  It is all around a win/win toy!  He are some pictures of my sweet boy enjoying his birthday present!

LL loves to take him for a ride!

We put a scarf on the front to pull him around by.  This is MUCH easier on our backs than bending over.

Fantastic job Aunt Laura and Uncle Gino!  This one is a hit for sure!

Making a Mess

One of our last days of summer was spent at home, just the three of us, soaking it up as much as we could.  What does that mean?  We made messes and had fun!!

LL did about 45 minutes of room time while Cooper took a nap.  When I went in to get her, this is what I found.  She had made a HUGE mess, but was so quiet, playing by herself, and having so much fun.  We played for a while and saved the clean up for later in the day.  :)

One of the hardest times to entertain Cooper is right before lunch.  Usually, while I'm trying to fix lunch for everyone, he would decide to get very fussy and clingy.  One of my usual options was to open our tupperware cabinet and let him play.  This day, he found a box of spoons, and before I knew it, they were everywhere!  He was in HEAVEN and I couldn't do anything but smile and take some pics.  :)

Look at the joy on this little face!!

Sometimes, making the mess (and enjoying it while it's there) is so much more fun than having a clean house!

Fire Station Visit 2013

Part of our yearly summer tradition is to have a trip to the Firestation for the kiddos.  I'll be honest, this is NOT my favorite thing to do, but I think it's really good for the kids.  Last year, we didn't go because Coop was like a week old.  This year, it fell during his nap time, so LL and I went.

She's got her red on!  This is typical of pictures now.  Either she's being super silly...

...or pretending to be a "itty bitty kitty".  I promise, she's a cat AT LEAST 8 hours every day.

Watching the fireman put on his gear.

Waiting in line to get on the firetruck.

Haha - classic.  But you can see those beautiful eyes and her little chipped tooth.  :)

We straightened her hair this day (her request), but the heat and humidity were making it curl back up.

My best girl!

Here is a pic of our whole group this year - it's the biggest we've ever had!  Check out my little model all the way on the right.  ;)

I am excited that Coop will be able to come with us next year.  I'm sure (since he is ALL BOY) that he will love it!  You can see our visit in 2001 here.

Wild Adventures with Ben

Ben came to town for a few weeks this summer, and Gigi and I decided it would be fun to take both kids to Wild Adventures one day.  This was getting towards the last few weeks of my summer vacation, so I was desperately trying to cram in as many fun things as possible!

We rode a few rides on the way in, and the kids wanted to stop at the carousel.  LL picked her own horse.

And Ben picked to sit in the chariot.

We spent most of the day at the water park (where we didn't take any pictures).  I did have a free coupon for a giraffe feeding, so we stopped by there on our way out.

Pumped to feed the giraffes!

Ben was the first one to go.

LL's turn!

Isn't this the most adorable thing ever??

The last thing we did before leaving was hit up the safari train!

I'm so glad that we got to fit in another water park visit AND cousin time all in the same day!  It made me even more excited for our Disney trip in September!

Art Party

LL got an invite this summer for a birthday party for a little girl, Ashlyn, that was in the class last year at school.  Her party was held in Remerton (a small town within our town) at a little art gallery.  It was during Cooper's nap one Saturday (11-1), so Daddy stayed home with Coop while I took LL to the party.

Ready to get her paint on!

All of the kids got to choose an animal to paint.  I was about 100% sure that she would pick the cat since she is obsessed with cats, but she surprised me and chose a ladybug!

Ready to eat!!

She was reunited with several little girls from her class and she was so happy to see them.

We had a fun girl's afternoon together.  I think I might store this idea away for a potential birthday party when she's a little bit older - it was so much fun!

Straight Hair

I hate that I haven't been blogging the last few weeks!  School has started and I have just been busier than any other time in my life.  I do not stop from the minute I wake up (5:15) until both kids are in bed (7:45).  By then, I'm too tired to even think about looking at a computer.  This new schedule is finally starting to feel "normal", so hopefully blogging will become more frequent again!
_______________

LL has been watching me straighten my hair since she was born.  My hair is neither curly nor straight, so I have to force it to do either.  Occasionally, she'll ask me what I'm doing, and I'll tell her that I'm straightening my hair.  I'll ask her every once in a while if she wants me to do hers, but she always says no.  One day this summer (in July) that same conversation took place, but this time she said yes!

She stood still the entire time and LOVED it!  She was so proud of herself and loved having straight hair!

It was actually pretty strange for me to see her that way.  In her entire life, I have never seen her with her hair this way.  I like it, though, and think that she looks beautiful with straight hair, curly hair, blond hair, or no hair.  This isn't something that we will do often, but I love that she's learning that it isn't what her hair looks like that makes her beautiful, and we can have fun and play with it.

Vintage

My dad (Opa) grew up on Long Island, NY.  He had this sweatshirt from when he was a little boy, and I used to wear it when I was little. He passed it on to me at some point before we even had kids.  I got it out the other day, gave it a good washing, and put it on LL to see if it fit - and it did perfectly!  She was actually super excited about it, and was more than happy to take a picture to send to Opa!

Ha.

LL will be rocking this out this winter for sure!
