Spring Break 2017

Last year, we had a super busy and super fun Spring Break.  This year, LL and I had a different Spring Break than Cooper, so we were a little more limited than last year since he still had school every day.  Even so, we tried to fit in as much as possible!

Friday
Friday night, the kids ate dinner with Gigi and Poppy while Matt and I got a ton of errands done.  One of the things we did was to try a new smoothie place that we had never been to before.  We got a ton of free smoothie coupons from the Bunny Hop, so it was a great incentive to try them out.  Free dinner?  Sure!  We ran around getting all of Cooper's tball supplies and stuff for a birthday party the next day.  It was good to just get some alone time for a little while!

When we went to pick up the kids, Matt took them home for bed and I ran to the grocery store.  So random, but I feel like it's my duty to share.  Kayla told us about this ice cream called Halo Top.  Basically, it's a high protein/low sugar ice cream.  I thought it would be super gross, but it's actually amazing.  And you can eat an entire pint for (typically) under 300 calories.  #notthatiwouldevereatthewholepint #exceptiwould
Our Publix had so many flavors in stock on this day!  This time, I got us oatmeal cookie, birthday cake, and salted caramel (my fav).

Saturday
Saturday morning I met Meghan at the gym for an awesome workout!  We worked out hard and I was sore for days afterwards!

After my workout, Cooper and I headed to the local jump place for a birthday party.  This is Cooper's favorite type of party because he is all about using that energy.  Do little boys just get extra supplies of it?  Because Cooper sure has enough energy for like 5 more kids!

He scraped all of the icing off of his cake and ate that first.  #mommataughthimwell

While Cooper and I were at the party, Matt and LL had a picnic lunch and then went fishing.

McDonald's for the win.  ;)

Matt was so proud - LL cast her own line, set the hook, and got the fish in all by herself.  Here is the cutest video of LL reeling in her fish.  I promise it's worth it to watch it just to get to the end!

After naps, we went to the strawberry patch to load up on some yummy berries!  Last year, we tried out Southern Grace Farms for the first time.  It's a little bit of a hike for us, but it is so worth it.  The strawberries are amazing, they have yummy homemade ice cream, and they have a fun playground for the kids to play on.  Everyone is happy!

Both of my boys picking away!

Here's a video of the kids picking strawberries.

This girl is a pro at picking the best strawberries!

My people!

They both look so big in this picture!

We picked a whole gallon full in no time!

While I paid and got some ice cream, the kids played on the playground.

There is a picture of LL with her head in this same sign (they used to have a small patch in a different town) from 2012 - when I was hugely pregnant with Cooper!  Now I have two kiddos to stick their heads in the strawberry sign!

They didn't have this fun slide last year, but the kids (and Matt!) loved it this year.  Here's a video of Matt going down the slide.

The jet skis were and odd addition to me, but the kids loved them.

Two happy kiddos at the top of the tire mountain!

LL insisted on keeping her fish so that Daddy could cook it for her to eat it for dinner!  She was so proud of herself!  Here's a video of her eating the fish tail.

I don't do fish, so I tried something new for dinner: english muffin with avocado mash and an egg on top.  It was delicious!

Nerd alert: I set a goal for myself for 2017 to read 100 books.  Now, I don't think I'll make it, but I wanted a big goal so that I would really push myself.  I started my 17th book on the Saturday of Spring Break (spoiler alert: It wasn't my favorite - I don't think I'd recommend it even though it has a lot of hype).

Sunday
Sunday morning we got up and ready for church!

For dinner we had yummy hamburger steak with sauteed onions and mushrooms - so.  good.

Monday
What's better than a yummy breakfast?  A yummy breakfast with fresh strawberries!

Nerd alert #2 - I have a life goal to read all of James Patterson's books (he is my favorite author).  I started book #18 of the year on Monday.

After Daddy took Cooper to school, LL and I snuggled with Aspyn on the couch.  They watched cartoons and I read my book - it was great!

I just joined a new gym a few months ago that has childcare, so LL and I tried it out on Monday.  She did great in the kids room and I got in a killer workout!

A smoothie snack for her and a protein smoothie lunch for me!

This girl is my workout buddy!

We picked Cooper up from school, and he happily colored on the back of my passenger seat on the way home.  Who gave him a red crayon?!  #notme . Anyone have any tips for getting it out?  #yesitsstillonthere

Monday night was Cooper's first tball practice of the year!

This dinner was on repeat for me after Cooper's practice.

Gigi and Poppy picked up LL from Cooper's tball practice so that she could spend the night with them and play on Tuesday.  This meant snuggles with my boy when we got home!

LL got a late dinner at Olive Garden as a treat!

Tuesday
Tuesday night, we met Pop to go see The Promise at their church.  It was Cooper's first time going.  The play was very good, but very long for two kids.  They both handled it well though!

Both of our dogs are so spoiled.  We found Lola sleeping in LL's room like this.

And when I went to bed, I found Aspyn on my pillows like this.

Wednesday
Wednesday morning LL and I hit the gym again!

Another protein smoothie for lunch!

That afternoon, we headed to some friends house to play and hang out.  Cooper was a fan of the hot tub!

And LL was a fan of the rabbit!

They have built a pretty impressive obstacle course in their backyard.  Matt and I gave it our best go.  I surprised myself (and probably everyone else) by actually completing this monkey bar set.

#beastmode

That whole thing and it was arm day at the gym?  Watch out.

The kids had so much fun playing together!

Thursday
Back at the dentist for my second time on Spring Break.  Not fun.

My mouth was numb for hours, so I opted for ice cream for dinner.  :)

Friday
As a treat on Friday, the kids and I met Daddy at Chick-Fil-A for lunch after LL and I picked Cooper up from school.

One of Cooper's school papers had his name written on the back.  He's getting better (if not in order - haha).

During nap time, I got in some reading time with this spoiled dog.

Starting my 19th book - this one I actually really liked!

Saturday
Saturday we planned to have a fun family day.  Our crazy cat has taken to sleeping in Matt's sink in our bathroom.  He sent me this picture (from across the house - haha) while he was getting ready.

We went to Home Depot to get some plants, and we ended up getting some hot dogs from a food truck outside for lunch.  We all decided they were yummy!

After naps, we played outside and got some chores done.

We let the girls out for a little while for some free range time.

We (and by we, I mean they) added a row of tomatoes to the garden.

Sunday
Another Sunday up and ready for church!  #allthespringcolors

During naps, I started book #20 (shocker - another James Patterson).

At Home Depot the day before, we missed the kids workshop, but they gave us some kits anyway.  After naps, Matt and the kids put together some Easter boxes.

For dinner, I made some cauliflower cheesy bread for Matt and I to try.

I was very surprised at how good it was.  We'll do it again for sure!  (Recipe HERE).

Both kids wanted to paint their boxes they made, so we pulled out some paints.

That's a wrap for our Spring Break!  It was a fun break with my babies!
