Well. This has been the year of sickness for us. It seems like we will be sick for a few week , have a few weeks off, and then start the process all over again.
Two weekends ago, Matt was feeling terrible. He ended up sleeping the entire day and I took the kids to Tallahassee for chick pics (post to come!). He got better, and two days later I started feeling terrible. I took OTC meds and just pushed through. It lasted about 4 or 5 days. This past weekend, we were both feeling better. Finally.
This week has been a big stressful week for me at work. We had SACS at our school all week (the people from the state who give you your accreditation), so it has been stressful with making sure than everything was perfect. I was glad that I was feeling better than I had the week before.
This morning, I woke up and felt like I had been hit by a truck. Something told me that I needed to go to the doctor - I was almost sure that I had strep throat. It was very sore, felt closed, and I had a mild fever (100). I went into work, talked to my principal, and then headed to the doctor. I have morning planning, so I assured everyone that I would make it back before our kids came for class (at 9:15).
I got to the doctor as soon as they opened at 8:00. They did a strep test first, and I was almost sure that it was going to be positive. It wasn't. She looked at my throat, in my ears, felt my glands in my throat, and listened to my lungs. She said she wanted to do a flu test just to make sure. I was POSITIVE that I didn't have the flu, but I told her to go ahead.
She came back about 20 minutes later and said that my flu test came back positive for Type B. I was SHOCKED. I mean - I obviously felt bad enough to go to the doctor, but I did NOT feel like I had the flu! I was also a little surprised because I got a flu shot this year (I do every year!) I think that I caught it suuuuper early, which is good. I've spent all day in bed trying to sleep this off. I'm planning on going to work tomorrow pending that I don't feel any worse.
I'm just praying that no one else gets it and than we can all get over being sick soon!!
