Cooper's 8th Month

Cooper was 7 months old (in his 8th month) from January 25 - February 24.  Here's what he was up to!

Stats:
Weight: 20 lbs
Diaper: size 3
Clothes: mostly 9 months with a few 6 or 6-9 months hanging on still.

Schedule:

Here's a look at his 4 hour schedule:
7:00 am - up for the day! (6 oz bottle)
8:15ish - solids (fruit)
8:45ish - down for nap
11:00 - up and eat (6oz)
12:15ish - solids (veggie)
12:45ish - down for nap
3:00 - up and eat (6oz)
5:45ish - dinner (cereal and veggie)
6:30 - bath
6:45ish - bottle and bed (6oz)

Eating:
Cooper is doing great here!  Here is now eating 24 oz of formula a day (6oz 4x a day).  He is doing much better with his spitting up, and I think it has to do with not getting as much as he used to.  He still does spit up, but it is not nearly as bad as is used to be at all.

He is still loving his solid food!  Here's some more baby food that he's had this month:
-apples
-sweet potatoes with cinnamon
-apples with cinnamon and vanilla
-cantaloupe
-kale and spinach
-broccoli
-eggplant
-mango
-blueberries

We've also given him some solid food this month:
-green beans
-mashed potatoes (by far - his fav thing!)
-vegetable soup
-pizza crust (for a second until Mommy found out - haha)
-avocado
-banana
-watermelon (did not like!)

Eating vegetable soup

He looks terrified, but I promise he's not.  :)

Holding his own bottle like a big boy!

Holding his own bottle again!

Avacado!

Eating a pickle!

Mashed potatoes and green beans!

Watermelon (not a fan)

Sleep: It seems we've had a trade off.  Last month, he was doing great for naps and getting up about 1/2 the time at night still.  Now, his naps have been pretty horrible (usually 1 bad one and 1 good one a day), but I am SO glad to finally be able to say - HE IS SLEEPING THROUGH THE NIGHT!!!!  He started this completely on his own and has never gone back!  I stopped counting at 23 nights in a row.  Only TWICE has he woken up early (and those have been recently), and we've just let him fuss until he went back to sleep.

He still sleeps on his tummy or side about 98% of the time.  We've also realized that he LOVES to get in the corner of his crib at night.  He'll scoot and scoot until his head is in the corner.  He LOVES it and it freaks me out - haha.

Teething:  Tooth #2 has come in!  By the way that he's been a drooling machine lately and constantly has his fingers in his mouth, I think we'll probably see a top tooth at any time.  I like seeing his little toothy smile.  :)

Bald Spot:  Thanks to sleeping on his tummy, this is finally gone! Yay!!  His little head looks so cute now with all of his hair filled in.

Prit:  Since LL was able to talk, she has called her little blankies/lovies a "prit".  We have no idea where it came from, but it has for sure stuck (hello - she's 4 and still says it), and now it's just what we call it, too.  We've been doing it for so long that I don't even realize any more that it's not an actual word and that other people don't know what I'm talking about - haha.  With LL, we let her start sleeping in her crib with her prits at 6 months old.  With Cooper, I waited until a week before he turned 8 months to give it to him (and even then - only at naps when I could watch him).  He really has taken to them right away and he falls asleep holding them almost every time.  So cute!!

Vocalizations:  This is very similar to last month.  Coop still isn't really babbling yet (or doing repetitive sounds), but I have noticed more sounds coming into his vocabulary.  He's really just such a QUIET baby and he doesn't talk a ton (it's probably hard for him to get a word in around the three of us).  He is starting to do more, though!

Sickness:  We finally got over the junk that he had last month and were doing well.  Then, over my winter break, he got a cold and he's been battling that for about a week and a half now.  He had a fever on and off for about 3 days, but then that went away for good.  Mostly it's just a TON of drainage, a runny nose, and a cough.  I'm hoping it goes away soon, though!

Back at the doctor.  :(

Getting to Sitting:  The DAY before he turned 8 months old, Cooper figured out how to get to a sitting position from his tummy.  Now he's doing it allllll the time!  Matt went to get him out of his crib the other morning and was shocked to see him sitting up and looking at him!

Crawling:  He's not crawling yet, but he is SO CLOSE!!  And I mean, just about as close as you can be without actually doing it!  I really will be shocked if we make it to next week and he's not crawling!

Misc:
-He can wave bye-bye (he did this great for about 3 days and then stopped completely - haha)
-He has started splashing in the tub during bath time!
-He bangs his right arm and his right leg ALL.  THE.  TIME.

Check out that awesome hair!

Awesome hair!

This is what happens when you're a second child, it's cold outside, and all anyone can find is your big sister's old hat.  :)

He LOVED listening to Daddy play!

Trying to pull up.

Here are some videos from this month:
-Cooper playing peekaboo.
-Daddy making Cooper laugh.
