LL's 8th Birthday Letter from Mommy

*Please note - the pictures in this post are not in chronological order.  But who has time to fix that?  No one.  :)

My sweet Lorelai,

This has been such a FUN year with you!!  Being 6 was a harder age than I anticipated, and it carried over into seven a little, but you really hit your stride this year.  You just brighten my entire world, and I can't imagine living without you!  What was my life like before this blue-eyed baby girl was in it??

You are such a funny girl.  You love to laugh, and you love to try and make others laugh, too.  You get this quality from your Daddy, and I love to see that in you.  I love your little giggle, and I hope that you always keep that love for laughing in your life.  Don't let this world take that away from you!

You have such a questioning personality!  You want to know and understand everything that is happening around you!  You pick up on things, you listen to every conversation that is happening (even if you shouldn't be), and you want to know everything.  It's hard to keep secrets from you!

You are such a good listener.  One thing that I love so much about you is that, if we tell you to do something, you will listen and hold strong to that even if we're not around.  I know that if I tell you something, you will stand firm in know that that's what you are supposed to do.  That is so important!

I am so proud of you with school.  This first part of 2nd grade has not been the easiest.  We've both been frustrated and there has been a number of tears shed (on both ends!).  But you have not given up, and you are doing so well right now!!  That strong willed personality is paying off because you are not letting school get the best of you!

You truly just have the best little heart.  It is so pure, and I pray that the world doesn't take that away from you as you get older.  You care for everyone around you, and you're such a good encourager (especially to your classmates).

One area that we for sure struggle in is your relationship with Cooper.  It's like what Charles Dickens said, "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times".  Now - I realize he meant something completely different, but it is so accurate!  Sometimes, you guys can absolutely melt my heart and are the absolute best of friends.  Then, in an instant, you are sworn enemies and you have no patience with him at all.  I know this is normal, but whew!

More than anything, I hope you feel how many people in your life just love you so much.  Never have I seen a little girl more loved than you.  I want you to have the assurance that you have a family that would do anything for you, and you have a loving God that paid the ultimate price for you.

You, my sweet LL, are loved to the moon and back.
Mommy.
