Cooper's 11th Month

My big man was in his 11th month (10 months old) from April 25 - May 24.  I really can not believe that the countdown is on until his 1st birthday!  This year has flown by, but I can honestly say that Cooper has been the best thing that has happened to our family.  He has totally made us complete and we are all just head over heels in love with him.

Here's what he was up to this month!

Stats:

Weight: 23ish pounds
Diaper: Size 3
Clothes: 9 month and 12 month clothes.  The 9 months fit perfectly and the 12 months are just a teeny bit big.

Schedule:

Cooper is still on his 4 hour schedule -

7am - up for the day! (6oz bottle)
8:00ish - breakfast (fruit, dairy, grain - all table food)
8:45 - 9:00 - down for nap
11:00 - up and eat (6 oz)
12:00ish - lunch (vegetable, meat - all table food)
12:45-1:00 - down for nap
3:00 - up and eat (6 oz)
5:45ish - dinner (table food - usually whatever we're eating plus a few more veggies)
6:30 - bath
6:45 - bottle (6oz) and bed

Eating:  Cooper is doing so wonderful in this area.  We have completely been blessed with two kids who are fantastic eaters.  This month, Cooper has been 100% on table food and not on any baby food at all.  He doesn't seem to miss it at all, and it's been neat to see what kind of foods he loves.  Basically, we've figured out that he prefers food with LOTS of flavor.  He loves things like casseroles and spaghetti.  The best example I can give is this: if you give him just plain avocado, he'll eat it, but not with must gusto. If you make it into guacamole and add seasonings, onions, salsa, etc - he gobbles it up and can't get enough.  He really will eat things with tons of flavor over just plain things every. single. time.  It's hilarious, but something that I think is great!  There were only a few things this month that he really didn't care for: black eyed peas and spinach.

Sleeping:  He's still been doing well in this area.  His night-time sleeping has been fantastic.  He still goes down for bedtime between 6:30 - 7:00 and gets up at 7 in the morning.  We never hear a peep from him in between.  His naps have been pretty good (for the most part).  He typically has one nap a day where he doesn't sleep solid for the whole thing, and it's usually his first nap of the day.

He's started sleeping on his side quite a bit this month!

Hiney way up in the air.  ;)

He fell asleep one day on his back - super weird!

Sickness:  We *almost* made it all month with no issues!  He ran a fever a few times, but it was due to getting a TON of teeth at one time.  Then, right at the end of the month, he ran a fever and started messing with his ear.  I took him to the walk-in clinic (he looooves to get sick on Friday afternoon when our pediatrician is closed), and he told us that it looked like an ear infection.  He was on antibiotics for about a week and now he's as good as new.

Waiting at the doctor.  :(

Teething:  This has been the month of teething, for sure!  He started out the month with only 2 teeth, and now we're at 6 and the 7th is about to bust through!  What's funny is that he got his eye teeth BEFORE he got his middle teeth.  Luckily a middle one busted through just a day or two behind, so we never really had a vampire baby.  ;)  His second middle tooth has taken a little longer, so he still looks a little goofy.

Crawling:  He is a crawling machine.  He is literally all over the place, and he's starting to get very brave.  When he first started crawling, he would stick very close to where we were.  Now, he knows the complete layout of our house and will go where ever he wants to go - even if it means going alone!  One of his favorite places is to crawl to the back door (it's almost completely glass) and bang and look for the dogs.  LL used to do the same thing at his age - it's super cute.

Cruising/Walking:  He has just started cruising this past week.  He still doesn't do it much, but he can do it.  He has also stood independently for just a second or two (on accident - haha).  He doesn't seem to have a huge interest in walking right now (all LL wanted to do at this age was hold our hands and walk),  but I'm fine with it!  I know it will come!

Looking Under Things:  This month, Cooper discovered that things can be UNDER other things.  He will crawl over to our entertainment center, lay on his belly, and look under it.  It is sooooo adorable.  He even has realized that his toys can go under there, and will go there to look for them!

Talking: He was not as talkative this month as he has been.  At the same time, he's also learned a new word - "uh-oh".  It's reallllly cute, and a lot of the time he'll just get the "uh" part out, but we can tell what he means.  This month he also started saying "mama" where I knew that he was, in fact, talking about me.  There were several times where he would be playing (and not saying anything), would stop and crawl over to me, pull up, look at me, say "mama", get down, and go back to playing.  Umm...I'll take that as him knowing that I'm his mama.  It also sounded like he said Lola once, but unless he repeats it again, I'm not going to count it.

Silly Sounds:  Coop has been doing lots of silly sounds this month.  Currently, he is making a sound ALLLLL the time that sounds like he's trying to gargle.  It's super funny because he is doing it almost constantly.  He also learned how to click his tongue (which makes me happy since we found out that he is mildly tongue-tied!), and he can blow kisses.

Pointing:  Just like last month, Cooper is still pointing almost 99% of the day.  He has that finger out and ready just in case he needs it.  ;)

Happy Place:  His happy place is still his swing.  In fact, it's being outside in general.  He will still swing for 30+ minutes, but he's even content just hanging out outside.  Both of my babies are outside babies for sure!

Wonderweek:  Cooper has been in a wonder week this entire month.  That has NOT been too fun.  He's in leap number 7 (the world of sequences), and I am ready for him to be out of it!  He started his fussy time around 41 1/2 weeks, and he's just now ending it at 46 1/2 weeks.  Here are some of the signs that we've been dealing with this wonder week:
-your baby is angry when you put him down - YES!  He doesn't necessarily want to be held all the time, but if he's put down, you have to get right down with him to entertain him!  If I need to put him down and walk into the other room - meltdown happens.
-cries more often, is cranky, grumpy, or moody - I'm sure that some of this can be linked to the fact that he has gotten almost 5 teeth this month, but some of it is wonder week, too.  He hasn't been a grump the entire month, but he's been a lot more grumpy than we're used to.
-"chats" less - his talking has been down, for sure!  I love hearing his little voice, so I'm thankful that this leap is almost over with!
-is whining more often - this is the first month that he's really whined at all.  And it is not pleasant.  It is easier to handle knowing what he's going through and that it's just a phase!

If you don't know what wonder weeks are, you need to look them up!  I downloaded an app for my phone that breaks down the weeks for me, lets me know what he's learning/developing, and gives me a chart to know when all the weeks are for the first 84 weeks!  It's amazing!

Misc:
-Typically, Cooper is a pretty laid back guy.  While he's almost always happy, it's hard to get him to really laugh hard.  He'll giggle a little and laugh some, but he rarely just loses it.  One night, he must have been overtired because he got a huge case of the giggles.  I'm so glad that I got it on video - it's adorable!
-Cooper has also gotten really good at figuring out how things work.  We have an elephant ball popper, and he for sure knows how to make it work!  I got it on video twice!  Video 1    Video 2
-If he is ever awake in his crib, there's about a 99% chance that he will be jumping.  It's hilarious!
-This is a video of Cooper's baby noises.  I want to remember these forever because they're just so cute!

He did this bull dog face for a few days.  :)

He LOVES ringing the wind chime at Grammy and Pop's house.

First time playing in the tupperware cabinet.

Future FSU star.  ;)

He needs a hair cut so bad!

Playing with LL.

First time tackling the grocery store with both of them alone.  Thankfully, I was just getting a few things for snacks for LL's school!

He has learned where the piano is at Grammy and Pop's house and crawls to it to play ALLLL the time!

He's been doing a lot of playing with LL this month!

(she loved it - I promise)

Too cool for school ;)

He has also discovered where Daddy keeps his guitars and wants to play with them all.  day.  long.

Fishy kisses!

Bed head ;)
