Veggie Tales Live

Quite a while ago, Emily talked to me about possibly taking Lorelai and Kye to see Veggie Tales Live.  Someone told her about a showing of it in Jacksonville, and she thought it might be something that both kids might enjoy.  I looked at the timing, and it really worked out perfectly.  It was the weekend before I left for my California trip, so it was a great time for me to really get some special time in with LL before I left for a week.

The concert was on a Friday night, so I left work a little early for us to make it down there on time.  I went by and got Kye and Emily first before heading to Grammy's house to pick up LL.  This was the day that Grammy bought LL her chicks, so she was actually NOT happy at all to be leaving Grammy's house (who could blame her?!).  I was a little nervous because she cried a good bit when we left, but she settled down pretty quickly.  Kye was SUPER sweet to her (even when she was being really NOT sweet to him) and kept asking her if she was okay and checking on her.  :)

We got to Jacksonville, found where the church was that was hosting the event, and then knew that we needed to find something to eat for dinner.  We found a McDonald's pretty close by, but we didn't realize until we were already there that it was in a veeeery shady part of town.  Like, I was pretty nervous.

For some reason, it to FOR-EV-ER to get our food.  I mean, hello?  This is a fast food place.  What's the hold up??  Kye's meal came out first, so Emily took the kids outside to start eating while I waited (about another 20 minutes!!) to get our food!  I hate that I missed it, but evidently the kids were being super sweet to each other and sharing dinner while I was inside waiting.  :)

After we finally got our food, we scarfed it down pretty quickly and headed back to the church.  When we got inside, they had already let everyone in, so the bottom of the church was PACKED.  Emily suggested that we head upstairs to the balcony seating and that was the best idea.  We got some great seats and didn't have to worry about not being able to see past the people in front of us.

The show started a little later than we thought, and they took a loooong time doing announcements for their church.  LL was a little confused at first (I mean, so far it hadn't been very fun for her!) until the characters came out.  Then, she was in LOVE!

Waiting on the show to start!

The characters were actually pretty cool.  They were huge and were very easy to see.  They even were able to move their mouths and blink their eyes and stuff.  I spent almost the entire time trying to figure out how the person inside of the character was able to do the eyes/mouths, but I never could think of any way to make it work!

Both kids just danced and danced and danced!  It was adorable!!

It seemed like the show *just* started when they took an intermission.  I was a little frustrated, but also welcomed the opportunity to take LL to the bathroom.  While I was gone, I really got one of the BEST compliments.  This girl came up to me out of the blue and said, "I just wanted to let you know that you look great!  I have 3 kids, so I know how you're feeling right now, but you look AWESOME!".  I guess it just really made me feel so good because she didn't know me at all, and totally didn't have to say anything.  Definitely made my night!

After we got back from our bathroom break, Emily and I decided not to stay until the end.  By this time, it was almost 8:00 and the show was only half way over AND we still had a 2 hour drive home!  We stayed for a few more songs before heading out.

Kye brought this Bob stuffed toy back for LL after a trip to the bathroom, and she LOVED it!  She is still playing with it at home and talking about seeing the show.

When we got to the car, we went ahead and changed the kids into their pajamas, put in a movie, and hit the road.  It really was such a fun night.  The only thing I was a little confused about was the lack of talking about God.  ???  The whole thing was Larry singing his "Silly Songs", so it was totally light hearted.  I like to just think that they "hit home" a little more towards the end and we just missed it.  :)  The kids had a blast, I loved getting to do something special with LL, and Emily and I always have a great time getting some time to talk!
