32 Weeks Pregnant!

Baby Growth: This week, Baby C is weighing in at almost 3 3/4 lbs and almost 17 inches long. At this point, I should be gaining about a pound a week – and over half of that goes straight to Baby C! That’s a pretty big weekly gain for such a small little guy! He’ll gain anywhere from 1/3 to ½ of his birth weight during the next 7 or so weeks. He now has toenails, fingernails, and real hair. His skin is also becoming soft and smooth. Most babies are head down by now. This is the most comfortable position for them since the uterus is shaped like a pear. He is also getting much better at regulating his body temperature and might start to shed his lanugo.

My Symptoms: Here’s what my weekly pregnancy update email says about me this week: “To accommodate you and your baby’s growing needs, your blood volume has increased 40-50 percent since you got pregnant. With your uterus pushing up near your diaphragm and crowding your stomach, the consequences may be shortness of breath and heartburn.” These are EXACTLY two of my biggest symptoms this week. I think that I’ve been eating TUMS more than I’ve been eating real food. I’ve also really battled with shortness of breath. It’s so frustrating, because I feel like I can’t breathe, which makes my heart race, which makes me feel terrible all over. It’s a vicious cycle!

My pelvic pain has still been pretty terrible this week, too. I think it’s just back to stay and something that I’m going to have to just get used to. I feel like my emotions have been better this week, and my swelling has been, too. I’ve still dealt with some mild swelling, but it’s hardly been noticeable at all.

The crazy people have also been better this week. :) There have still been a few annoying people (of course), but overall I haven’t had to deal with what I did last week. There was the woman at school who proceeded to follow me around for a good 20 minutes talking about how big I was, was I sure there was just one, how was I going to make it, etc. But I mostly just ignored her (grunting replies and hoping she’d get the hint) until she left. It didn’t help that she did the same EXACT thing 2 days later, but luckily I got away from her pretty quickly. I was probably rude about it, but I just kept on walking and didn’t even acknowledge her. Oh well.
Weight: Another pound this week. 18lbs total. I’m still right on track to only gain 25 total! I’m really shocked that I didn’t gain more. It was my birthday last week and I literally stuffed myself with dessert every single night. I’ll take it, though!

Belly Pictures:

Gender: Boy!

Maternity Clothes: This is really the same. I’m getting very limited in what I can wear. Even some of my maternity bottoms are getting too small. :( I’m starting to get pretty frustrated in the LACK of choices of what I have to wear. I literally feel like I wear the exact same things over and over again. Luckily, I’ll be on summer vacation next week and it won’t matter so much anymore. Yay!

Movement: He has still been moving a ton. I had thought that he had flipped head down because of the types of movements that I’ve been feeling, but now I’m back to thinking that he’s still breech. We’ll find out today!

Sleep: This has gone back to being AWFUL. I’m constantly hot, have a hard time getting comfortable, wake up needing to pee, and my pelvic pain makes it a beast to move AT ALL in bed. This is one area where I can definitely say that I am miserable.

What I Miss: Sleep. This one is for sure not coming back any time soon, though! Once pregnancy is no longer keeping me awake – a brand new baby will be!

What I’m Looking Forward To: We have an ultrasound today at my 32 week appointment. I’m excited to see how much this little guy weighs! This is also give us more of a plan on where to go from here. My sister and Ben are also coming down this weekend for a retirement party for my mom, so that will be fun. Friday is also my last day at school with kids – woo hoo!! I still have to go back Monday – Wednesday next week, but it’s a whole different ball game when kids aren’t there. :)

Cravings: Not really.

Best Moment of the Week: I don’t know? We had a GREAT morning Saturday morning as a family of three. We were out and about, LL was in a PERFECT mood, and I just soaked up spending time with my little family before we throw a new baby into the mix. It really was the perfect morning. :)

Questions or Concerns: I did have a little spout of Braxton Hicks the other day that made me nervous. I know they’re normal, so I’m just keeping an eye on them for now…

Goals for the Week: continue to get our house in order – we’ve been doing GREAT!! I also went ahead and scheduled the sibling class and the CPR class at the hospital. We’ve been on a roll!
