29 Weeks Pregnant!

Baby Growth: Baby C is measuring in at a little over 15 inches long and 2.5lbs – about the size of a small cabbage. He is starting to gain fat on his little body and a lot of production is going towards his growing brain and bones. This means that his little head is growing bigger by the week! His eyes are also starting to move a lot. He also starts “breathing” this week by expanding his lungs to take in amniotic fluid. This helps build his muscles that he’ll need to take his first breath of air. His body is also learning to maintain it’s own temperature – which sits at about 101 degrees right now.

My Symptoms: Boy, has this third trimester hit me like a ton of bricks! I am EXHAUSTED! I really get worn out so easily and I daydream about taking naps – haha. I’ve really started to feel more and more uncomfortable in my skin. I feel like my belly is VERY BIG and it’s starting to get hard for me to get comfortable in any position (sitting, standing, laying down). I’m also not “waddling” yet, but I have noticed that my belly totally moves side to side when I walk. I can also tell that my hips are starting to get looser. It just feels exactly like that: that they are more loose than normal.

I’ve still been waking up at night SO HOT. I literally sleep with the covers off completely for most of the night with the fan on high. This heat is also starting to translate into my day time, too. I usually don’t turn my air conditioner on at school very much (it’s crazy and makes my room SUPER cold, no matter what temperature I tell it), but it’s been running a good bit here lately.

I’ve also noticed that when I sit up straight, my belly sits on my legs. Gross. It’s not a great feeling at all, but it’s also something that I can’t do anything at all about – I just carry SO LOW! My pelvic pain has come and gone this week. Some days I don’t really deal with it at all and some days it’s pretty bad. My heartburn has been the same way lately. I’ll go a few days without really feeling anything and then all of a sudden it’ll hit again.

My constipation has picked back up this week, too. That is totally not cool!! Hopefully it’s just from getting back home and getting back into my normal routine. I’m hoping it will go back to regular (pun intended – haha) soon.

I’ve noticed my temper has been very short lately and my mood swings are back. I’ll go from happy to mad to crying over nothing. Poor Matt- he’s been suffering the most of this. My temper is just so short and by the time we have time together in the evenings, I’m just so tired that it doesn’t make for a good combination!

I also experienced another “first” this week: swelling. With LL, I never got swollen at all until the last week or two. Monday night of this week, I was SUPER busy. From the time I got home (around 4:30) until the time I got in the shower (about 8:30) I was go, go, go. I did sit down some in there, but it was just little spurts. To eat dinner, to set some pictures on facebook to upload, to paint LL’s toe nails, to play a matching game, to fold laundry, etc. But all of these were only 2-10 minute stretches of time. When I got out of the shower about 9:00, I noticed that my ankles were a little swollen. It wasn’t much, but it was there. It kind of freaked me out pretty bad. I texted Emily and she said to put on my compression socks (that I borrowed from my mom for my California trip) and drink a lot of water. My socks happened to be in the wash, so I just propped my feet up in bed with a ton of pillows and drank a full glass of water. That’s when I noticed that my feet/lower legs really HURT! By morning, my feet were completely back to normal, but it was a huge reminder that I can’t be superwoman – I HAVE to take it easy!

Weight: Just a 1lb weight gain this week! Woo hoo! 13 lbs total. Feels like TONS more than that right now, though!

Belly Pictures:

Gender: Boy!

Maternity Clothes: This is still about the same as last week. There are still days that I wear 100% regular clothes and some days I don’t. It’s really just all about what I feel like wearing. I can tell you that my current favorite thing to wear is either yoga pants/jeans and one of my tank tops. I feel like it makes me look super thin everywhere else except my belly and they’re so comfortable. I would imagine that you’ll start seeing me in that kind of outfit a TON more – especially when it really starts heating up!

Movement: This has changed a ton, but I’m not sure of the reason. It could be because he might still be breech (I have no idea???), OR it could be because he’s running out of room. Or both. But I’m definitely starting to feel less kicks and punches and more rolls, twists, and turns. I was telling Matt, it honestly feels like a snake (like a huge anaconda) is in a knot in there and is rolling around trying to untie itself. I know that that’s a crazy weird comparison, but it’s totally what it feels like if you can imagine it! He’s also starting to stick out body parts a TON. I love playing the “guess what this is” game, but there’s no way to tell if I’m right!

Sleep: Like I mentioned before, I’m still waking up mega hot. I’m also back to having to get up at least once in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. I’m not sleeping lightly, but I’m starting to get really crazy dreams. Just ones that don’t really make sense and make it where, even though I’m sleeping, I don’t feel like I’m resting as much. Matt has totally been snoring a TON lately, too, and I feel like I stay awake a lot during the night just trying ignore that.

What I Miss: Feeling comfortable in my own skin. It’s really starting to feel like my body totally does not belong to me!

What I’m Looking Forward To: Having a relaxed weekend with LL. Matt has a camping trip with work, so it’s just me and LL all day Saturday and Sunday. I’m looking forward to just staying mostly around the house and playing with her. It sounds perfect to me! I also have a “Ladies Night Out” at my church this Friday night that Emily and Meghan and I are going to. I’m very much looking forward to that!

Cravings: I’m just HUNGRY!!

Best Moment of the Week: I honestly don’t know. I know that sounds terrible, but it has just been one of those weeks. It’s been super hard getting back into the groove of things after spring break, I’ve been mega tired, our weekend was crazy busy, Matt’s aunt died this weekend and that threw everything into a tailspin, CRCT starts today, and the list goes on and on. So I guess the best moment is that we’ve made it through another week in one piece. I’ll try and be more positive next week, I promise. :)

Questions or Concerns: A few things I need to remember to ask at my appointment next week:

1-Those red dots (I forgot to ask last week)

2-The Pertussis (Whopping Cough) vaccine. Do I need this??

Goals for the Week: Rest. Rest. And rest. I need to deep clean a lot of parts of our house. I also need to try and be more positive this week!
