I've Been Lying

….to everyone! But I have good reason! Since losing the baby this summer, Matt and I knew that we would find out the gender of this baby. There were just so many “unknowns” with that pregnancy, that we knew that we would want to know everything that we could about this precious baby. With that being said, we also knew that we wanted to surprise everyone ELSE if we could. :) We decided that we would talk to Marie at my 15 week appointment and see if we could schedule the ultrasound before LL’s birthday and then we could surprise everyone at her party. Marie was completely fine with it and we set up the ultrasound for February 2 at 3:15.

Let me just say, it was SO HARD lying to people! Everyone would ask us when it was, and I would just be as vague as possible. Saying things like “in a few weeks” – haha. Some people (Jodi!) even demanded a specific date. Matt and I had planned for this and just decided to tell everyone it was February 10th if they asked.

I left work last Thursday at 2:15 and by the time 2:30 rolled around I was already busting at the seams needing to go to the bathroom. I understand the need for a full bladder. I do NOT understand the need to have it full to the point that you feel like you’re going to explode. It got to the point in the waiting from (from about 3-3:15) that I could barely even sit on the chair I was so uncomfortable!

We finally got called back and I started to get really excited. We haven’t seen the baby since 10 weeks, and I was just SO READY to see how big they had grown! She asked if we wanted a specific gender and I told her that I wanted a girl, but that Matt wanted a boy. But that we would be very happy with either. And that’s when she gave us the awesome news that Baby Mullican is a………BOY!! I think that Matt and I were both super shocked! I just started grinning and Matt just started crying – haha. Sorry, babe, but I had to tell. It was so cute. :) He has just been wanting a boy SO BAD but I don’t think either of us thought it would happen. He told me later that he thought it was a girl all along, but just kept saying that he thought it was a girl. The tech also told us that this little guy is HUGE! The average weight for an 18 week baby is around 7 oz. This little guy was already 10 oz! Woah! I’m hoping that growth slows down a little – I don’t really want to birth a 15 lb baby!  His heart rate also looked great at 145 bpm.

We also did finally decide that we would tell people the gender, but would NOT be telling people his name – just his initials. So here are your hints on that:

His first name starts with a C.

And his middle name starts with a B.

I’ll be giving you more hints as delivery day gets closer. :)

But, without further ado, here are some precious pics of our Baby C!

There were a few concerns that the tech saw on the ultrasound. We will be doing further testing and such to determine exactly what’s going on. I’ll be doing a post on all of the details of that soon (hopefully tomorrow). I want this post to be all about him and our excitement in finding out who he is. But in the mean time, if you’ll just be praying for Baby C and just rejoice and praise God with us over what a beautiful little boy he is!
