10 Weeks Pregnant

This is a day late again. Maybe we’re starting to see a pattern here.  :)

Baby Growth: This week the baby is the size of a kumquat. This is actually a little funny to me because I took LL to the grocery store this past weekend, and she actually picked out some kumquats. So we have some in our refrigerator right now. I had no idea that this was the “next size”, so it was funny when I read that this week! The baby is starting to grow bones and cartilage this week. The liver and kidneys are formed and starting to function. The baby is starting to swallow amniotic fluid and is starting to produce urine. It’s thought that he/she might already be able to “taste” some different things that I eat through my amniotic fluid. Baby is also starting to form nails this week!

My Symptoms: They’ve actually gotten a little better this week! I still get nauseated, but it hasn’t been bad enough for me to take any meds at all this week! I haven’t been hungry a ton, but I’ve been VERY picky about what sounds good. I’ve also noticed that if I get the least bit hungry, that’s when I start to get very nauseated. And I still am more nauseated at night than any other time of the day. After I had my D&C this summer, the doctor told me that my uterus was tilted. That was confirmed again this week (post to come about my 10 week appointment!) and I did a little research online. My lower back has been hurting kind of bad, but I just figured that it was the baby sitting on my sciatic nerve. LL used to do that ALL the time (even this early!) so I’m not surprised by it. After looking it up online, though, I found out that my back could be hurting because my uterus is tilted. Mystery solved. It hasn’t been very comfortable, but it hasn’t been too bad either. I’ve noticed my irritability evening out a *little* this week, too. My mood will still swing pretty quickly, but not as often as it has been.

Weight: According to my scale at home, I’m still at my same weight. According to the scale at the doctor’s office, I’ve lost a pound. So let’s just stick with that. :)

Belly Pictures: I guess it's about time for this.  But I can PROMISE you that you won't be seeing any bare belly here - haha.  I need to order some belly stickers this week!  Please excuse these pictures!  I took them at 6:30 in the morning before I left for work and all I had close to me was my cell phone.  So this is what you get.  :)

So funny that we actually had some kumquats in our house this week!

This is a comparison between me at 10 weeks with LL and me at 10 weeks with this baby.  I was feeling pretty huge, but after looking at these pictures, I don't think there's too much of a difference, do you?  Made me feel a little better!

Gender: Still don’t know. And after Emily’s delivery this week, it’s really got me considering not finding out. I guess it’s a good thing that we’ve still got 2 months to decide! I’m starting to get some *inklings* that the baby is a girl. With LL, I knew at 12 weeks that she was a girl. Obviously I was right. With the baby we lost, I had a strong feeling that it was a boy. This time, I’m starting to feel girl again (even though Matt is confident it is a boy – haha). I guess time will tell!

Maternity Clothes: I’m still in normal clothes and I intend on keeping it this way for as long as possible! I did have to bust out the bella band this week for a certain pair of my work pants. They had weird buttons at the top and there was no way that I could just use a hair tie to keep it closed, so I had to use it. It was SO uncomfortable and I was miserable all day. Mostly, I don’t have to even use my hair tie trick. I’m still in regular clothes fastened the regular way 99.9% of the time!

Belly button: Still in, but I’m almost certain that it’s going to “pop” a lot earlier than it did with LL.

Movement: Is it completely crazy that I totally think that I’ve felt something a few times? Not many, but a couple. I for sure felt something with LL at 12 weeks, but then nothing else really until 14 or 15. Sometimes I just have some weird little movements that totally don’t feel like gas. I’m probably crazy, though. I did read that it’s *possible* for some people to feel the baby this early, especially 2nd time moms. But I’m probably still just crazy – haha.

Sleep: I’ve actually started to be able to handle staying up a little later! And by later I mean like 9 or 9:30 – haha. I still get tired pretty easy, but I need to try and stay up until a normal time! My house desperately needs it, and I’m sure Matt does, too!

What I Miss: The weekends – haha. I’m SO happy that I only have next week of school and then I get almost 3 weeks off. I need it!

What I’m Looking Forward To: Being out of school!! Being done with my weekly shots (although they are getting easier). Feeling normal again and not being so tired/nauseated/cranky all the time.

Cravings: Matt took me to SurEste for a taco salad last weekend because I had been craving it so much. And it was SO GOOD! My sis is coming in town next weekend, so I’m hoping we can go back again when she’s here. :) I’m not craving pizza anymore. At all. I did crave tuna one night so I made a tuna melt and it was soooo good. That actually sounds good again right now – haha.

Best Pregnancy Moment of the Week: My appointment yesterday! Can’t wait to tell you guys about it!

My Concerns or Questions: I’ve read that my uterus should tip back to normal in a few weeks – I guess I hope it does?? I’m hoping it won’t cause any delivery complications. Marie didn’t seem too concerned. She said her’s was tilted, too. I’ve sorta felt like I might be getting a UTI, but I’m not sure. It comes and goes. I meant to ask her to test my urine yesterday at my appointment, but it was SO BUSY there and my appointment got crazy, so I never got to talk to her about it. I guess I need to just drink more water and watch it.

Goals for the Week: Get my house clean. And keep it clean. Ugh – it SO needs it. Finish Christmas decorating. We started last weekend, but I got too tired to finish – surprise surprise. Have a more relaxing weekend. We have been SO BUSY lately (even on week nights!) and I just want to be HOME some! Clean our office up. My sis is coming next weekend and she needs somewhere to sleep. How rude of her, right? :) 6 more school days until Christmas vacation!

Aww your little bump is so cute. Glad to hear that things are going well. I don't think I could hold off & not know the sex of the baby
