Hair Help!

I know that I've posted about my hair horror story, but today is a little bit different.

In August of 2009, I decided to grow my hair out for Locks of Love.  My friend Sarah has done it several times, and I really think that it's so wonderful.

I  have been very diligent about growing it for the past two years!  Here's my problem: it's finally long enough.  Soo....to cut it?  Or wait?  Let me just say right here, I *AM* going to donate my hair.  That's not an option.  Now, it's just a question of "when?".  The problem is, now that it's long, I really like it.  And most other people do, too.  In fact, I've had more compliments on my hair in the last 6 months than I have the entire rest of my life combined.  And I like it, too!  But I'm really starting to get tired of it.  So because I'm a loser, I've made a pro/con list for keeping my hair longer.

Pros for Not Cutting:
  • it really does look cute
  • as weird as it sounds, it's FASTER for me to fix it and make it look cute when its longer
  • I get compliments allll the time
  • I NEVER wear it in a ponytail anymore.  It's ALWAYS down.
  • I don't think I'm a "short hair" girl

Con's for Not Cutting:
  • It's a lot of work to maintain
  • It gets soooo tangled!
  • I NEVER wear it in a pony tail or up at all because I don't think it looks very cute.
  • My goal was to actually cut it
  • it's getting a little boring?
  • LL has started saying that mommy looks like Rapunzel - haha.
Before I tell you what I need you to do, I need to show you some things.

First, here's what my "horrible hair" looked like when it got MEGA cut.  I HATED this.

Typically, I think that I don't look very cute with short hair.  But when it grew out a bit from the previous picture, it was pretty cute.  Here was what it looked like at my favorite (short).

Now, here's what I look like pretty much all the time now.  Every day, I either straighten my hair or curl it.  Here's what it looks like curled (this is what I do most).

Here's what it looks like straight.

Here's what it looks like from the back.

For Locks of Love, you have to donate a minimum of 10 inches of hair (from the longest point).  Here's some examples of where it would have to be cut for me to donate it at either 10 or 12 inches.

I had a rough day today.  Don't judge.

I mean, obviously I could cut it and then just let it grow back, but I really have spent sooooo much time growing it out.  For almost as long as LL has been alive!  I know for some of you, you think "it's just hair", but for me, it's really not.  I'm one of those people who feels good or bad about myself based alot on my hair.  When it was super duper short (in the first pic), I felt REALLY horrible about myself.  To the point where The Hubs was almost ready for me to pay for extensions.  No joke.  So this is a big decision for me.

On my Pinterest account, I've been pinning some cute hair styles for when I do eventually decide to bite the bullet and cut it.  Here are my favorites (in the order that I like them most).  Side note: why did I pin all pictures of blondes?!?!

Now, this is where I need YOUR help!  What do YOU think I should do??

So, if you voted that you think I should cut it, which hair style do you like the best?

Thanks for your input!!

I donated my hair in December and it was hard to give up what I spent forever growing. I didn't donate to Locks of Love though. Instead, I donated to Pantene For Lengths. They make wigs for women with cancer...and take 8 inches! You look great in all of those pics! And yes, your hair is really pretty!

8 inches sounds better than 10 or 12...;) maybe the pantene thing is a good compromise??? it's still for the same type cause! i had my hair cut, styled and pretty much the same color as the ones of jessica simpson and reese for a loooong time. it was my signature look and i really liked it...that being said...we have VERY different face shapes (mines more round, yours is more long) so i don't know that the same hair styles would look good on us both or not?!?! with my round face i could NEVER pull off having my hair as long as yours!!! i really do like #1 too but I don't think it'll look JUST like the picture all the time and a lot of the time looks where the back is shorter end up looking too trendy ya know? if it were me (which you already know i think this) i'd donate the 8 inches one and then continue to grow it back out. when you're 30 we'll discuss again ;)

I have donated mine several times and LOVE it,,I plan to do the same with my girls' hair. (oh crap, let me make sure I do all correct grammar here, I am super "lingo talk" all the time, lol)
I think it will be a great opportunity to teach LL about sharing and giving (maybe you could do it around Thanksgiving (I am super "teacher seasonal dorky" like that).
I mean since your original plan to grow it out was to donate, I think you would feel bad if you didn't stick to your guns, you know?
If you did the 10 inches you would still have plenty of hair to rock :)

also, I do know that cutting it can be hard, even though EVERYONE else on the PLANET loves my hair short, *I* actually prefer it long, I feel that a woman's hair is her glory :)
