Zoo Atlanta

Last week, The Hubs and Emily's husband, Zach, had to go to Atlanta to do some work for Aflac.  They were going to be gone from Wednesday - Friday, leaving us ladies and the children all alone.  Emily had a great idea, and we decided to tag along.  Sort of.  Really, we just used them for their hotel rooms - haha.  We decided to go up there also, and take the kids to the zoo and the aquarium while the boys were working.  We didn't know the exact times that they boys would be working, so we literally planned on not seeing them at all and just did our own thing.

We left on Wednesday morning about 8:00 and headed straight to the zoo.  Our plan was to go, stay all afternoon, and then head to the hotel before dinner.  Emily and I were both pretty nervous about this because we actually planned on having both kids skip their nap.  The zoo closed at like 5:30, so if we wanted to go, there was really no other way.

We got to the zoo right at about 11:30 and headed straight on in.  Some of Zach's family was also coming (his mom, two sisters, and two more kids), but they were a little behind us on the trip, so we figured we would just catch them somewhere in the zoo.

First up: warthogs!  Pretty random - but we'll take it!

And lunch on the go - haha.

LL loved the giraffes "ga-raffes"!  She kept saying "they're tall and tall and tall and tall!"

I had no idea that Emily even took this, but I think it's really cute.  :)

This was the point where the rest of the Parkers kind of caught up to us.  I think they got some really cute pictures of the kids with this gorilla, but LL wasn't down for participating in that.  Shocker.  This is me, Casey, Courtney, and Emily.  I guess LL and I were honorary Parkers for the day??

There were lots of statues of animals around the zoo - but especially a ton of monkeys???  There was also some special monkey that kind of started this whole thing, I guess, but I don't know anything about it.  I can't even remember his name, actually.  But I think Emily knows the whole story - haha.

She was all about sitting on this thing!

Another monkey!  I swear they had a lot more animals than this - haha.  But we got to watch this orangutan climbing/swinging from these ropes from stop to stop.  And she had a little baby clinging on to her!  Can you see it?

This was about the point in the day when LL said, "Mommy, I wanna take a nap."  I laid down her stroller and gave her her prit, but I wasn't surprised that she didn't sleep.  So what did we do instead?  Went to the petting zoo!  I was really pretty disappointed because all they had were goats and sheep.  I mean, Wild Adventures has more than that!

This goat just stood on top of a platform, moving his mouth funny.  We tried to offer him some food, but he didn't want any.  I have no idea what he was doing, but it looked pretty funny!

She finally decided to use one of the brushes that they provided.  But all she brushed were their rear ends - haha.

The last thing that we did before leaving the zoo was go on a train ride.  I was pretty disappointed in it, but the kids didn't seem to mind it at all.  Mrs. Charlotte, LL, me, Emily, Kye (I promise he's in there!), Casey, Colt, Peyton, and Courtney.

Train buddies!

The kids and their souvenirs.  LL and her flamingo ("wa-mingo"), and Kye and his.....trucks - haha.

Overall, we had a really good time at the zoo!  The kids did great (especially considering that they skipped a nap!).  We headed to the hotel, found some dinner, and then put the kids to pretty early.  I think LL was completely asleep by 7:00!  Next up: The Georgia Aquarium!
