Aflac Kickoff

Matt and I had our first Aflac event to go to in January.  We're new to all this stuff, so we don't know how it all really works. That being said, I don't know how often these kinds of things happen - but, regardless, it was the first Aflac event that's been held that I was also invited to - haha.

This was just the district party, so it was only for people in this area.  To clear up any confusion, Matt was brought into Aflac by Zach (Emily's husband).  But we were friends for over a year before Matt even started considering making a career change.  So Matt and Zach are friends - but now they also work together.  I'm still not sure how all of this works, so lets see if I can get it right.  Matt was hired in under Zach (who is a CIT).  But they are all under Rusty (Zach's dad) who is the head of the district.  So Rusty is Zach and Matt's boss, but Zach isn't really Matt's boss.  But will be when he has his own district.  ???  I know.  Totally confusing.  This is my take on all this stuff anyway.  Emily, correct any mistakes I made!

Anyway, Rusty hosed a district kickoff party in January to celebrate the start of a new year.  It was at a new(er) restaurant in Valdosta - SurEste.  I'm not a huge fan of Mexican, so I was a little nervous.  They ended up having great food!  We had some appetizers that were Mexican food (quesidillas, and some kind of rolled up beef things) and dinner was grilled (?) chicken, mashed potatoes, asparagus, and more beef stuff.  Not even really Mexican!

Rusty went over some numbers for last year and how everyone is doing so far this year.  He also handed out some gifts because this was kind of a start the new year/late Christmas party thing.  Matt got a really awesome Aflac shirt from Rusty and then some little mini-Aflac ducks from Zach.  They even had spouse gifts - I got a beautiful Lenox vase.  We had a really good time and I enjoyed meeting some people that I had heard about, but never seen in person.  I also got to hang with Emily, so, duh, I had a good time.    Here are some pictures from the night.  BTW - I forgot my camera, so I had to steal all of these pictures from Emily.  So if you go to her blog, you'll see the exact same ones - haha.

Rusty, Matt, and Zach.  Those Parker men sure are TALL!

Zach's "people".  Group?  C.I.T?  I dunno.  (That's Jodi, Emily's mom)
