9 months!

We have reached 9 months old!  It seems like time just keeps getting faster and faster.  I feel like I just sat down last week to write her 8 month old post!  We took LL to the doctor the Monday after her "birthday" for her 9 month check-up and here are her stats:

Weight: 18 lb 9 oz (44% up 2 lb 8 oz from 6 months)
Height: 29" (89% up 1 3/4" from 6 months)
Head circumference: 17 1/4" (43% up 3/4" from 6 months)

The 9 month appointment is typically without shots, but while we were there we decided to give her the H1N1 vaccine.  We were originally against it, and then we were on the fence about it, so we decided to talk to Dr. Megow about it.  We were just debating it because we both come in contact with so many people every day and we know that we are at high risk for either getting it, or carrying it home.  But we were hesitant because you hear so many scary things about people getting autism, etc.  I knew Dr. Megow would recommend it, but I wanted to know why.  She did say that she vaccinated all 4 of her children with it and that is poses no more risk to her than any of the other vaccinations that we have already given her.  She also said that if LL gets the vaccine, the chance of her NOT getting the H1N1 virus is in the 90's percentile wise.  With all of those facts staring at us, we decided to give it to her.  That was yesterday and she's been fine ever since - not so much as even a fever!

Here's what has been going on the past month:

1- Solid Foods.  This girl is becoming a super eater!  She is eating between 18 - 24 oz of formula a day.  She also gets 3 baby food meals a day.  She gets cereal and a fruit for breakfast, cereal and a vegetable for lunch, and a vegetable and a fruit for dinner.  She also gets 1-2 snacks a day.  She usually gets at least one, but sometimes two.  She almost always has a snack between breakfast and lunch, and sometimes she has a snack between lunch and dinner.  But she definitely has designated "snack times" and she is not allowed to just snack all day.  She doesn't even know that that is an option!  For snack she'll eat things like fresh fruit, puffs, biter biscuits, yogurt, or sometimes a sweet baby food (like peach cobbler!).  In addition to all of this, she is also starting to eat real "people" food at meals.  At breakfast, she'll get some cherrios when she's done with her baby food, at lunch sometimes she'll just get pieces of whatever we're eating (if it is not too salty, has too much seasoning, and is realitively good for you) and for dinner we try to give her little pieces of the vegetable and meat that we're eating.  She's doing great with solid foods and she LOVES to self-feed!  She'll get so irritated with the baby food and alot of times she just wants to get it over with so that she can feed herself the table food!  I am so super happy about this!

2- Sleep Issues.  For some reason LL has been getting up in the night between 3 and 5 wanting a bottle.  Typically, she just goes right back to sleep, but we're still not extremely happy about it.  But what really can we do?  I can't FORCE her to sleep through if she's hungry and we definitely don't do "cry it out".  I'm hoping that it's just a growth spurt/phase and it'll go away soon.  She's still a great sleeper at night, so I really don't need to complain.  Also, we've gotten to where we have to hold her to sleep for naps before we can put her in her crib.  If it is nap time and you just put her in her crib, she will NOT go down.  We NEVER hold her to sleep at night, so at least that is still consistant for us.

3- Temper Tantrums.  Lorelai has learned (from whom?!?) how to throw a temper tantrum.  By tempertantrum, I mean that when she doesn't get her way, she will cry and scream and fuss about it!  I don't know where she learned it, but she knows it!

4- Crawling.  This girl is a mover!  She can crawl as fast as I can walk!  We are for sure on our toes.  There is absolutely no down time anymore!  She is all over the place and I love it.  She is a wonderful crawler and is exploring the world around her.  Gone are the days of putting our baby down and she are in the same spot that you left her!

5- Standing.  One of Lorelai's favorite things to do is to crawl over to an object and then pull herself up to a standing position.  She's not standing on her own (without holding on to something), but she stands ALL the time.  My original timeline was that I thought that she'd be standing on her own by Thanksgiving (didn't happen), but I still think she'll be walking by Christmas!

6- Walking.  She's not even close to walking on her own yet, but she walks up and down the couch all day long!  She's just now getting to where she will reach out and grab on to something that is near her when she's standing and then walk over to it.  I'm sticking to my original timeline - I think she'll be walking by Christmas!

7- Yelling.  As funny as it is, this is one of her favorite things to do.  She does this high-pitched yell/scream that means she's really happy.  She usually only does it when she's standing up, but I love that noise.  It is ear-piercinly loud, but it's the best noise in the world!  Here's a video of her yelling.

8- Talking.  We're up to three words right now: Lola, Mama, and Dada.  Most of the time that she says them, she doesn't mean who she's talking about.  She's just talking.  But on rare occasion, she will really mean the person that she's saying.  It doesn't happen often, but it happens!

9- Teeth.  Still only two on the bottom.  But to be honest, I'm not rushing any more!  We're doing fine with the ones that we have!

10- Blue Eyes.  Still blue!  3 more months!

I'm sooo glad to hear that LL is going through a temper stage too. Kye acts like a spoiled child! He'll cry and cry when he sees me with the house phone b/c he wants it. I've NEVER given it to him before so it's so strange that he'll get SO upset about not being allowed to have it. It bothers me that he does this so much over stuff like that! It makes me wonder if I'm doing something wrong?! But if LL is going through it too then it MUST be a stage :)
